I am very interested in endurance riding, but own a 10 year old "old-style" quarter horse mare. Many people have told me I would be wasting my time to try rides on her, I would appreciate any opinions.
I endurance rode a big Appy/Quarter mare for many years, she did well over 1000 miles with many top tens and excelled at multi-day rides. She was only pulled once 80 miles into a 100 mile ride. Dot Wiggons rode quarter horses for years on 50 and 100 mile rides and did very well. I had many Arabs and finally realized they are not the breed for me. I now have Morgans and we are doing splendidly.
