Hey RM's will you aircondition our rides please???  ;)   I took the advice of a friend and did some research on-line.  It has been making me laugh a bit.   Here are some interesting tid-bits though for those of you interested.

Causes

-Prickly heat is the result of blocked sweat ducts, perhaps because the skin becomes too soggy (over-hydrated).

Prevention:

-Air conditioning, the choice of suitable clothing to encourage evaporation of sweat, keeping cool and open-air swimming may all be helpful.  (Airconditioning was on every site).

-Clothing should be loose and absorbent (riding tights don't exactly fit this category), and would explain why I have more of an issue on the lower body, and no issue up top).

-Avoid greasy ointments and lotions, which hold moisture in. (Lots of people recommended bag balm)

-Apply powders containing cornstarch to keep skin dry and cool.   I am going to try applying Gold Bond prior to the ride and see how it goes.  I will let you all know.
