Mike Sofen" Thank you Mike for your version of history as you remember it. Let us go back 27 years to 1975. In 1975 there were NO IBM compatible computers. The home computer was just barely on the horizon. If you had access to a government or university main frame,then, yes you could get into a conversation with others across the country. Certainly though, the communication in no way resembled the modern day email listserv. In fact, email as we know it did not exist until nearly a decade later. One could access a BBS, although this wasn't common until the late 70's, early 80's. There may have been folks that dialed long distance on a regular basis to post on the primitive message boards of the time, but as I recall they were few and far between here in the Chicago area. My own experience with Compuserve's BBS in Chicago in 1982/83 was a primitive one. As far as Linda being able to communicate in complete sentences, I expect no less. We live in a modern era, complete with spell check!!! I do not consider myself to be a computer historian, nor was I calling Linda a fibber or stretcher of the truth.
