Kind of quoted out of context. Here's my first paragraph: >>Yep, and they don't seem to notice that ride mgmt has other things >>to do than hand out awards. When I have enough volunteers, we >>don't have trouble accomodating them, and keep a list of those who >>have received their completion award. We don't even have time to >>cross-reference to see if they really DID receive completion! >>We're calculating BC, checking number checker sheets to make sure >>riders did the whole trail, preparing awards, paying bills, >>reassigning volunteers, arranging evacs--other needful things.<<
What that means is that I would have gratefully accepted your help in handing out completion awards. OTOTH, no way would I support a separate awards meeting/whatever for the LDs, Julie and I are just way too busy still running the "rest" of the ride, never even get to eat the dinner until after the regular awards. They have until 1 pm to complete, As you know, NRR offers a "no dinner" $10 deduction, both to make it economically possible for some people to attend at all, and so that people can leave early without losing money. That way though, I've given an accurate number to my caterer so I don't lose my shirt financially. But I digress. So Hog Wild is a commuter-event, too. Location difference maybe, some rides are 5-8 hrs away, but I suppose/hope that those riders are not gonna just haul home afterwards?
