I have a question - and nothing about the web site or the barn. But when did this practice of taking an email and dissecting it paragraph by paragraph begin? When I write an email it is usually with heart and mind and then I feel like a frog in a lab when someone pulls it apart sentence by sentence. Is this how people read letters now too or is this just specific to emails? It seems like we could answer emails in their entirety instead of chopping and dicing. Margie

Heidi Sutton [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Which I said--that you designed the website. >My point is that you have a financial relationship with the >manufacturer. I have no more financial interest in this company than Ameritech has in a company who happens to have a yellow page ad. I have been paid for my services, I have no further business relationship. I was simply sharing my suprise in finding a quality product in a world where that is becoming rare. If I had bought my barn from a different company and it was better than the one I did get, I would have shared my excitement about that barn. Again, IF I was simply trying to promote my web design, I would have posted when I finished the site 4 months ago... >I'd have had no beef if you'd bothered to disclose that. Bothered to disclose that? If I was truly trying to be disingenuous, don't you think I would have signed the post as Bob Schlob or something rather than just signing my actual name? Good grief, making money in any way from posting the message never even entered my mind! I was simply excited after having been suprised by my new barn. >Same as if someone who was a dealer for a certain line of >saddles raved about the saddles--I'd expect them to mention >that they have a financial interest. >Same as the DVMs on professional lists routinely disclose when >discussing a drug or other product that they do consulting for >the company. Just being upfront. How many times can I say that I am not a dealer and I HAVE NO FINANCIAL INTEREST IN THIS PRODUCT! By your assumption, I would get a percentage of every business/organization for which I design a website? Hardly! What a ridiculous concept. By that assumption I would get a cut of the offering plate from both the Manton and Cadillac SDA churches, a cut of tuition from each child at the Northview School, a cut of each Christmas tree sold at Packer Tree farm, a cut of each home sold at Plan Housing, a cut of donations to the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity, etc., etc., etc. Ridiculous. Furthermore, I create websites for competing companies, now how does THAT work in your scenario? I am no different in my business than a company like Ameritech. They create yellow page ads for businesses, they are paid for the ad which was created- they DON'T take a running percentage of a business' income. A website is just that. An ad. I create websites, I either donate or am paid for that service and then the business relationship is done. I do not expect nor demand more. However, when I happen to run across a product that I am impressed with, I tell my friends about it so that they have the benefit of that knowledge as well. There appears to be no way that I can convince you that I had no ulterior motives in posting a message about my barn. It is not my job anyway. You can choose to be jaded and assume the worst. That is your prerogative. Heidi Sutton www.heidisutton.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
