As I exited the Biltmore ride, (stage right? through the Equestrian Club stable?).... driving up the slippery, slimy road, about 3 pm Saturday, there was a two-horse, motorcyle, car-jam going on. I stopped, asked if I could help this suited-up cycle-rider, who was trying to help the horse(s). I asked "Can I help?" A: Do you have a screwdriver? Q: No - what do you need it for? A: This horse has a stone stuck in his shoe Q: Maybe I can find a tire iron A: Great .... I open my car's trunk, which is overloaded with junk, and peek into the wheel well zone... The "helper" cycle guy plunged into my "space" -- tried to pull off that cardboardy cover for the spare tire, which started tearing it up. I was pretty ticked. Me: Wait a minute! I need to move this stuff on top of it! (he helped a little bit, albeit in manic-mode)... then he rips the cardboard even more. *****@@@@@@!!!! I shoulda blasted him!! End of story -- I got the tire iron (wrench?) out, handed it to him and it worked! The riders slipped past me, downhill, the second one muttering his thanks, and the traffic jam dispersed.
Summary: glad I could help, but I had a bad attitude about that cycle-meister who literally tore into my car!! What WAS the final score for the ride? I know several horses that were pulled, one got sick, several riders decided not to start.... what a terrible weather situation. How many cars and trailers got stuck/tied up, etc? Back in PA Karen, who finally got a loooooonnnnng, hot shower and clean clothes!!!! Anne -- you sure did an incredible job putting on the ride, but sorry the weather didn't side with you =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
