My riding partner dies it all the time. It's great when the horse is well
behaved, but she used to take her mule before Fancy was broke to ride. Fancy
would kick at the horses, never connecting, just showing off. She would run
and buck when she felt good, and she would also lay down and roll on the
trail whenever the mood hit her. The last two habits she continued to do
under saddle, which is the main reason you all haven't seen her on the
Endurance trail yet.

I won't ride with someone who has a horse running loose. It's just too
dangerous. One time my friend's mare went running up a hill, since she had
no rider she could just go where she wanted. My mare tried to race with her,
and I had a heck of a time getting her stopped. Besides, they were racing
where there was no trail, and gopher holes and al my mare wanted to do was
pass, she wasn't watching where she was going.

Still, it sounds like a great way to keep to horses in good condition if you
don't have any one else going with you. jeri
