I have not tried the following with attempting to
resurrect diffraction data from old published
papers or reports but such an attempt could
be interesting(?):

The following refers to a list of programs
that can Convert a hard-copy graph or plot into
data. Possibly quite handy for comparing
hard-copy Rietveld/diffraction results of
the past with the present.

--------------

This presently includes:

Datathief for Mac (freeware)
http://www.nikhefk.nikhef.nl/~keeshu/keeshu.html
(can handle log scales and "data thieving" of
curves (diffraction data?), lines of best fit).

Quicktrace for Mac (freeware)
http://servermac.geologie.uni-frankfurt.de/QuickTrace.html
(looks a lot more powerful than datathief in that it can
handle a wider variety of graph types - distorted images
as well - ternary, polar, etc. Written by the same author of
the free MacDiff Powder diffraction software - Rainer Petschick).

TechDig for Win95/Win3.11 (shareware)
http://www.xnet.com/~ronjones/index.html

==============

Other programs to add to the list are welcome as
well as some "rumoured" programs that can handle
hard-copy stereo structure diagrams and get the
structure co-ordinates back?
