Dear Dr. Reny: >Hi Rietvelders, researching in Japan, I would like to use Rietan as all my collegues(I >work on fullprof usually). Does anybody know where to find an ---english --- (or even >better french) version of this software and it'sdocumentation. Thanks to allEdouard RIETAN-94 is distributed with its English manual (URL: ftp.nirim.go.jp). RIETAN-2000 will be released by the end of this year. Information about its main features can be obtained as a PDF file from http://www.nirim.go.jp/~izumi/recent_research/Rigaku_J/Rigaku_J.html This version supports the following four methods of pattern fitting: 1) Individual profile fitting 2) Le Bail method 3) Rietveld method 4) MEM-Based whole-pattern fitting The last feature makes it possible to determine electron/nuclear densities from powder data by repeating MEM analysis and whole-pattern fitting (REMEDY cycles). Three different algorithms of nonlinear least-squares can be used: Gauss-Newton, Marquardt, and conjugate-direction methods. An orginal technique called partial profile relaxtion may be combined with each of these least-squares methods, which will lower the goodness-of-fit, in particular, in compounds showing several reflections below 20 degrees. ******************************************************** Fujio IZUMI National Institute for Research in Inorganic Materials 1-1 Namiki, Tsukuba, Ibaraki 305-0044, Japan TEL: +81-298-51-3354 (ext. 511); FAX: +81-298-52-7449 ********************************************************
