Cinvestav-IPN Unidad Merida Departamento de Fisica Aplicada CINVESTAV(Centre for Research and Higher Education) is one of the leading Mexican scientific institutions with the explicit goal to raise educational and scientific standards to an international level. It is a decentralised institution with campuses in Mexico City, Merida, Saltillo, Guadalajara, and Irapuato. The Department of Applied Physics is part of the campus Merida, and presently provides M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs in Applied and Theoretical Physics. Current topics of research include non-linear physics, particle physics, materials chemistry and physics, condensed matter physics, and corrosion and electrochemistry often in collaboration for foreign partners. Soon we will open a new program in Physical Chemistry and in order to widen our research interests we are currently seeking to fill the openings for TWO SENIOR CHEMISTS In the field of physical and/or inorganic chemistry Areas of specific interest include but are not limited to: catalysis, photochemistry, reaction dynamics, organometallic and coordination chemistry, chemistry of interfaces and environmental chemistry, materials chemistry and crystallography. These positions require a Ph.D. degree, postdoctoral experience and a proven research track record. The successful candidates will be expected to teach chemistry courses at graduate level and to develop vigorous and creative research programs. We offer a competitive starting salary depending on qualifications and experience in the range $40,000-$60,000USD p/a, with free private medical insurance .
