I am a new user of GSAS and have a few question about the installation.
1)This new version of GSAS in the windows folder does not contain pc-gsas
after installation, is this a complete version to be run on a windows
platform? 2)Why is this file almost 2 Mb smaller then the one in he MS-DOS
folder? 3)When regisering a new file type you must enter a new extension
for it, for expedt.exe the extension is .exp what are the extensions for
powpref, genles, powplot so I can set up the "rigt click" method for these
routines?

Thanks,
  Anthony M.

Subject: new Windows GSAS

Hi Everyone,
I have placed a new Windows version of GSAS on the ftp server
(ftp://ftp.lanl.gov/public/gsas) in the directory "windows". A small number
of bugs in the original version were fixed:
1) A memory problem in GENLES
2) Some things in RAWPLOT for output files, etc.
3) Improvement in the algorithm for converting neutron TOF to d-spacing
(solve a quadratic equation)
4) A few mistakes in the "readme" file.
5) A new overall parameter has been defined for "radiation damage" for
x-ray powder data only. This is probably only useful for multidetector
diffractometers at 3rd generation synchrotron sources (ESRF, APS, etc.).
Its need became abundantly clear after a recent protein experiment at APS.
Please give it a try and let me know especially if you find more bugs. It
is a complete compile with a new compiler. This usually flushes out bugs.
