Postdoctoral position available
We have an opportunity for someone with synchrotron diffraction experience
to work as part of an interdisciplinary team on the environmental
degradation of cement based materials.
The successful applicant will be based at the Georgia Institute of
Technology in Atlanta, GA. However, some experiments will be performed at
the Advanced Photon Source in Chicago and possibly the Advanced Light
Source in Berkeley. Duties will include the acquisition and analysis of
both laboratory and synchrotron energy dispersive X-ray diffraction (EDXRD)
data on damaged cement samples, the acquisition and analysis of
microtomography data, report preparation and possibly soft X-ray microscopy
experiments on cement. There will also be opportunities to participate in
other projects at Georgia Tech.
No prior experience with cement chemistry, microtomography or EDXRD is
necessary. However, computer programming skills, a willingness to be
involved in specimen preparation, and experience designing sample
environment, doing qualitative phase analysis, EDXRD and microtomography
would be advantageous.
