Below is a preliminary announcement of the 2008 Australian X-ray
Analytical Association (AXAA) national conference. Please feel free to

The 2008 Australian X-ray Analytical Association National Conference

The Australian X-ray Analytical Association Inc. (AXAA) extends an
invitation to all users of X-ray and surface analysis techniques to meet
at the Grand Hyatt, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia from 4 to 8 February,
2008 for the AXAA 2008 Schools, Conference and Exhibition. It is an
opportunity for those working in the fields of laboratory X-ray
fluorescence analysis (XRF) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) methods,
complementary synchrotron radiation and neutron scattering techniques;
and other related techniques to join with their colleagues for the five
days of stimulating discussion, knowledge sharing and networking.
The new-look AXAA Schools and Conference will maintain its traditional
emphasis on laboratory XRD and XRF, but will also include substantial
coverage of the exciting new diffraction and fluorescence techniques
available at synchrotron radiation and neutron beam facilities. The
Basic Schools for Beginners will be designed for prospective/new
practitioners. Established practitioners and those seeking to learn
cutting edge techniques are encouraged to attend the Advanced Workshops
on Monday and Tuesday. The Conference sessions will include themed
parallel streams. There will be eight plenary speakers spread over the
four days of the Schools and Conference.
An exhibition will be featured from Monday to Thursday and a variety of
sponsorship packages are also available. The final day of the conference
will be a site visit to the new Australian Synchrotron on Friday 8
