I'm curious as to where you originally found these,
bcos Sun does not document them in the SDK tools
docs for either 1.4.2 or 1.5  :-/  For example:

They are documented in some performance tuning guide I think.

I currently have these options:

        JAVA_OPTS='-ea -Xmx256m -Xms64m'

which of course are quite different.
So I'll try adding the ones you suggest ...
