I causes a child trigger to execute or not. You can either do so explicitly with the child() method or declare input or cookie child triggers that are executed automatically when values are provided for them.
When it gets the identity, it merely sets a cookie or a global variable ? Is there a subclass or a basic Impl -class that does a lot of this ?
Nope, that's all done in the Authentication element. However, you need nothing of this for HTTP authentication. I don't exactly remember how that works but I suspect that you need to set a couple of headers.
