What I like most about RIFE is that the templating system is great.
Everything can be manipulated by code. I'd hate it if suddenly
there were a gazillion ways to do the same thing without actually
bringing any benefit.
I feel like these proposals just beautify the code, but do not add
any real value.
That's exactly what they do! I discussed many times with friends on
other IRC channels to understand why even they didn't take the
trouble of looking deeper into RIFE. The most recurring pattern was
actually the look of the template tag syntaxes. Most seem to have a
lot of trouble with it and therefore don't even look further.
Providing a syntax that's easier on the eye for people that evaluated
RIFE could be a major improvement for the adoption rate. Sadly, it
seems to be a lot about perception!
