Hi Hui,
sorry, but that difficult to tell since it totally depends on your
application.
Best is to simulate it. Run the JVM by limiting the maximum amount of
memory. Don't forget to factor in some place for other things than
Java (database, OS resources, ...). Then let Apache ab or JMeter
loose on it and see how your application holds up.
Best regards,
Geert

Hello,
I am looking for some VPS hosting for my app,
I have questions about the hosting plan, I have not ran a real world
JAVA app before,
so how much memory do I need? since java needs a lot memory,
I am thinking about plans on http://rimuhosting.com, they say:
=====================
Java processes use up a lot of memory. Some customers have
successfully deployed Tomcat webapps on 64MB VPS plans. Though we
recommend 96MB as the minimum for Tomcat up to as much memory as your
budget can afford (there is no such thing as 'too much memory').

there is a plan with 128m ram, how many users, how heavy traffic can
it afford in general situation?
thank you for any tip :)
hui.
