Hi everyone,

As you have probably noticed, I consider timely mailing list replies very important since there's nothing more frustrating than being stuck with a problem without anywhere to turn to.

Almost 90 people are now subscribed to the list and I'm sure that many of you have already advanced in your knowledge of RIFE, or at least of certain parts of the framework. I'm asking you to consider helping out on the mailing list by replying to questions that you know the answers to. Keep in mind that every time that I or another advanced RIFE user (or committer) takes the time to respond to easy questions, is time that isn't spent on the development of the framework, fixing bugs, or writing documentation and examples. If you ever thought of contributing to the framework, helping on the mailing list will much more beneficial than you can imagine. Since I don't want anybody to be 'stuck' with a problem, I'm constantly interrupted during the development and honestly, the recent pace of it is a bit too slow to my linking. Even if you don't know the final answer to a question, it doesn't hurt to point people to a direction that you think might be suitable and maybe find the solution through an exploratory discussion on the list.

For the people that received replies and help, please consider contributing something back for the free support that you received. It's not that much of an effort to summarize your problem, explain the solution and add some example code snippets. The wiki is freely accessible to anyone and it's a perfect location to add these valuable pieces of information (http://rifers.org/wiki/display/RIFE/ Tips+and+Tricks). Also, if you discover some relevant areas in the javadocs that aren't documented, or incomplete, check out the source, add the documentation and send me a patch. This will really benefit everyone.

Thanks for your help in taking some of the load off our shoulders and making RIFE's community even more dynamic, friendly and helpful.

Take care,

Geert
