Hi Steven,
at the moment they don't have a real function besides inspecting the
active sessions, correct. However, this doesn't mean that it will
continue to be like that in the future or that something else will
not rely on them. Not implementing should work now, but be aware that
they are part of the public API and can as such be relied upon at one
time by something.
