IIRC the runtime and the compiler are closed-source but liberally licensed.
and there's people devoting a lot to time to widget cookery.

I got my Rife servlet to accept a TinyMCE submission pretty easily,
but then I had to go work on other stuff.  OTOH Bitflux BXE, Xopus, 
and Mozile were mainly headaches in integration, so TinyMCE was a 
clear winner.  But Mozile (0.8) is making good progress on editing 
per generalised RNG schemas, so it is showing some promise.
