Steve,
I'm terribly sorry, but I gave you the wrong information, you can
have RIFE/Crud generate that select list.
You can find a demo of this here:

(video and sources can be downloaded there)
Take care,
Geert

Hi Geert!
I'm torn about your suggestion. On one hand I think that is a
great project
and would be really useful for Rife. On the other hand, I have
very little
time to commit, and in particular I'm looking for things that would be
useful for my project. Some of the obvious items would be
documentation,
validation, Meta Data, templates, etc. But I would be happy to see
what
Tyler has in mind. How would I get involved?
Thanks!

Sure, I understand, there's some pretty advanced RIFE wizardry going
on in there.
I would be happy to contribute in anyway possible. Like I said I
was hoping to use Rife/CRUD for my admin tools and anyway I can
help to make it more useful I would be happy to. Is the idea to
have all pages driven by Meta Data constraints?
Yeah, RIFE/Crud is supposed to be totally driven by your domain model
and the meta-data.
One way I could probably help is in completing javadocs for
constraints. I noticed some of them are excellent and others are
non-existent (iList for example). I assume that is part of Rife's
core source. If you have any other ideas please let me know.
That's an excellent idea. There are some weak spots in the Javadocs,
notably some of the constraints. Completing them has been on my list
for a long time but I never got to it. It would be a great
contribution.
If you want a small project to dive into, you could contact Tyler
Pitchford. He was working on a project that generates meta-data from
a database schema. This would allow RIFE/Crud (and RIFE constraints)
to be used in a similar fashion as Rails scaffolding.
Take care,
Geert
