Rio initialization

Using 1.07 I tried to initialize my Rio SE internal memory, with error
checking, and it get to about 600-700 blocks left and error's out with
either a rx or tx timeout error.

Also it takes about 30-40 minutes to get to this point.  Why is it so
slow.  When I got a windoze machine to try it on it initializes in about
45 seconds.
