I have one of these "evil" things,(In fact several people here at work
bought one after they saw mine and found that Best-Buy was selling them for
$99.00. every one of them are the same as mine) The new Beta4 of the
Dreaming of Brazil program works well with it.
My question is, if this has 2 16 meg chips and the oder had 4 8 meg chips
could I have installed 2 more 16 meg chips to convert mine to a "specal
edition"? granted I really stink at SMT board work, but if it's possible I
could find someone to do it for me.

Hi,
I have created a new Version of DreamingOfBrazil for the Rio PMP 300 (no
release yet, though). Source and binaries are at
http://parkverbot.org/harald/download/Rio_gui_20000229.zip (gui source for
Borland C++Builder)
http://parkverbot.org/harald/download/rio-1.05hn_20000229.zip (driver and
dll source for MS VC, commandline version is here)
http://parkverbot.org/harald/download/DreamingOfBrazilInstaller3Beta4.EXE
(installer for the binaries)
Does anybody want to port this back to Linux? I added code that is supposed
to handle the new Rio PMP300 with only 2 flash chips (16 MB each) that does
not work with the old code base. Maybe someone can try it out.
Harald
PS: Has anybody done something with the Windows 2000 USB driver? I have no
good idea how to do this driver stuff. I am not exactly sure on what has to
be done to the bulkusb driver. Should we send the "start communications"
command when the device is opened? Should we try to map functions to read
and write? Should we expose the command channel and let the application
handle all the mechanics? Ideas, suggestions, anyone?

Does this happen to support the PMP300SE as well?

Sure, it still does that.
