Hello there.
I hope this is the correct list to post this message. If not, just tell me
where else should I wine ;-)
I am using a Linux Debian commandline configuration. Bored from doing the
repetitive task of uploading files to the rio player, I have written a
small program which wraps around the rio command-line tool. It's task is
to read a big list of songs, then select some at random and finally upload
them to the device.
My question is somehow technical: the program selects enough songs until
the 32Mb limit expires. My first aproach went wrong, and the last song was
always cut. I decided to reduce the limit to 31Mb. This works ok. After I
upload the songs, I list the rio memory contents, and I am informed that
from the 32Mb, 31Mb + around 300Kb are used.
Does this mean that the device itself needs some memory space for a
fat-like list information or something like that, and that this space has
to be shared with the main memory?
Also, the program is working but limited. When I end this, should I post
an announcement on freshmeat? Is there some rio-dedicated page with links
to such tools? Somebody wants to test the program? It's written in C.
PD: What does the email address mean? It's a freeamp related list, or a
rio-developement tool list? Both? :-)
