Dear colleagues,

I would like to share an update on the ongoing work to revise the criteria
for the accreditation of Regional Internet Registries. The NRO NC has
published a document with proposed principles for the recognition of RIRs
and ongoing requirements that RIRs should meet. You can read the details in
my article published on RIPE Labs:
https://labs.ripe.net/author/athina/revising-the-criteria-for-the-accreditation-of-regional-internet-registries/

This is an important step in the RIRs' and their respective communities'
efforts to prove that there are adequate checks and balances to ensure the
stability and self-governance of the Internet Numbers Registry System.

As part of the RIPE community, I encourage you to share your thoughts on
the proposed principles via the designated questionnaire, which is open
until 19 November 2024. You can find the proposed principles document and
the questionnaire at the following link:
https://www.nro.net/policy/internet-coordination-policy-2/

There will also be a presentation on the NRO NC's work by Hervé Clément
during RIPE 89 in the RIPE Community Plenary session.

Kind regards,

Athina Fragkouli
Chief Legal Officer
RIPE NCC
