Thanks everybody for the suggestions. Last night I used the flac front end application to convert a .wav to a .flac. It worked fine - and the SB2 had no problems playing the converted file.
I'll look for the 'sleep' compression setting tonight. * Aside from figuring out how to rip the files, I want to point out I'm pretty happy with the SB2.
