I am unable to listen to FLAC files if bitrate limiting is in effect. WAV files get transcoded properly, so it's not LAME that's at fault; likewise, if bitrate limiting is off, FLAC files are decoded to PCM just fine. It's the combination that's not working.
My setup -- Players: 1 SBG, 1 SB2 Server: 400MHz Pentium II, 384Mb ram, Win98 Version: 6.2.0 or 6.1.1 (same problem with both versions) Slimserver was actually installed on my WinXP laptop, then copied to the Win98 machine, since the installer no longer works for Win98. When I first ran version 6.2 on the Win98 machine, Slimserver didn't crash when playing FLACs; instead, I got the "Cannot open file for..." message on the player and it skipped to the next track. Then I discovered that the bin folder hadn't been copied with the rest of the server files, and when I corrected that, the crashing reappeared. Here's the tail end of the log file with d_formats and d_source enables (dates edited out, and wrapped for clarity): :01.3992 00:04:20:05:11:38: Switching to mode play from stop :01.4018 openSong on: file:///E:/Music/Aaron%20Parks/Shadows/Knives%20Out.flac :01.4131 openSong: getting duration 225.8, size 21362327, : endian and offset 0 for file:///E:/Music/Aaron%20Parks/Shadows/Knives%20Out.flac :01.4153 Setting maxBitRate for Black to: 320 :01.4164 Setting maxBitRate for Black to: 320 :01.4273 Setting maxBitRate for Black to: 320 :01.4283 Setting maxBitRate for Black to: 320 :01.4336 undermax = 0, type = flc, squeezebox = 00:04:20:05:11:38, : lame = D:\PROGRAMS\SLIMSERVER\SERVER\Bin\lame.exe :01.4345 checking formats for: flc-aif-squeezebox-00:04:20:05:11:38 :01.4350 checking formats for: flc-aif-*-00:04:20:05:11:38 :01.4355 checking formats for: flc-aif-squeezebox-* :01.4360 checking formats for: flc-aif-*-* :01.4366 checking formats for: flc-wav-squeezebox-00:04:20:05:11:38 :01.4371 checking formats for: flc-wav-*-00:04:20:05:11:38 :01.4376 checking formats for: flc-wav-squeezebox-* :01.4383 checking formats for: flc-wav-*-* :01.4388 Checking to see if flc-wav-*-* is enabled :01.4395 enabled :01.4400 Found command: [flac] -dcs --force-raw-format --endian=little : --sign=signed --skip=$START$ --until=$END$ -- $FILE$ :01.4438 Setting maxBitRate for Black to: 320 :01.4448 Setting maxBitRate for Black to: 320 :01.4500 checking formats for: flc-mp3-squeezebox-00:04:20:05:11:38 :01.4506 checking formats for: flc-mp3-*-00:04:20:05:11:38 :01.4512 checking formats for: flc-mp3-squeezebox-* :01.4521 checking formats for: flc-mp3-*-* :01.4526 Checking to see if flc-mp3-*-* is enabled :01.4531 enabled :01.4536 Found command: [flac] -dcs --skip=$START$ --until=$END$ : -- $FILE$ ¦ [lame] --resample 44100 --silent -q $QUALITY$ --abr : $BITRATE$ - - :01.4598 Setting maxBitRate for Black to: 320 :01.4608 Setting maxBitRate for Black to: 320 :01.4832 Matched Format: mp3 Type: flc Command: [flac] -dcs --skip=$START$ : --until=$END$ -- $FILE$ ¦ [lame] --resample 44100 --silent -q : $QUALITY$ --abr $BITRATE$ - - :01.4840 openSong: this is an flc file: file:///E:/Music/Aaron%20Parks/Shadows/Knives%20Out.flac :01.4845 file type: flc format: mp3 inrate: 756.690628875111 maxRate: 320 :01.4850 command: [flac] -dcs --skip=$START$ --until=$END$ -- $FILE$ ¦ : [lame] --resample 44100 --silent -q $QUALITY$ --abr $BITRATE$ - - :01.4930 Using command for conversion: "D:\PROGRAMS\SLIMSERVER\SERVER\Bin : \MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\flac.exe" -dcs --skip=0 --until=-0 -- : "E:\Music\Aaron Parks\Shadows\Knives Out.flac" ¦ "D:\PROGRAMS\SLIMSERVER : \SERVER\Bin\lame.exe" --resample 44100 --silent -q 9 --abr 320 - - ¦ :01.5257 Streaming with format: mp3 :01.6212 00:04:20:05:11:38 New play mode: play :01.6537 00:04:20:05:11:38: Current playmode: play :01.7192 Setting maxBitRate for Black to: 320 :01.7204 Setting maxBitRate for Black to: 320 :01.7269 Setting maxBitRate for Black to: 320 :01.7280 Setting maxBitRate for Black to: 320 :03.4482 We need to send 0 seconds of silence... :03.4491 sending 0 bytes of silence -- dbls ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dbls's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=296 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=18121 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
