Yes Nero is a paid program, but it's (a) very good and (b) usually available for <$10 if you look around.
Anyway, as has been mentioned many apps will convert your flacs to wavs, foobar2000 and winamp amongst others. You can probably even use WMP if you install the flac plugin for that.
