No idea. I think it's a unique ID for the CD.

Pass. Only ever used it with FLAC.

Not really, sorry. When I first got my Squeezebox I asked a load of
questions on how to get ripping working under Linux. A few people gave me
some hints, and I did a bit of scripting to extract tags from the CUEsheets
generated by the ripping program I use.
