I just discovered an odd behavior that is tag-related. I have an album (Legend by Bob Marley and the Wailers) where, when I "browse artists" and select "Bob Marley" then "Legend", only 2 songs are displayed. When I "browse albums", however, I see all 14 songs.
When I browse the same album via the web interface (default skin), a "browse artists" shows all 14 songs. Looking at the tags, I discovered that the "artist" tag is set to "Bob Marley" for 2 of the songs, and "Bob Marley and the Wailers" for the remaining 12. The "album artist" tag is set to "Bob Marley and the Wailers" for all 14 songs. The discrepancy in the artist likely explains why I only saw two songs for Bob Marley / Legend when I did the "browse artists" ... but I would have expected the web interface to exhibit the same behavior. Further, if I do a "browse artists" on "Bob Marley and the Wailers" and select "Legend", I see all 14 songs. It is acting as if the Squeezebox, during "browse artists", only displays songs on a given album that are by the artist being searched on, but the web interface will display all songs for an album that contains a given artist. Is this correct ... and is it intentional? my files are WMA lossless, if that makes a difference (I recall reading a forum entry about their being a bug in how SlimServer deals with the "album artist" tag for WMA files, at least with Compilation albums ... and have experienced this bug first-hand). I realize that I can most likely fix this problem by cleaning up my tags ... but since the Squeezebox and the web interface are exhibiting different behaviors, I figured I should bring this subject up. -- Jon ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Jon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2848 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=21295 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
