Actually, it works more like a "how hard should I try to compress this
audio" setting.

The increase in processing time appears to be fairly exponential, i.e.
Setting it to "8" takes a helluva lot longer than "5" and doesn't
decrease the final audio size by very much.

That said, every little helps - I use "8".

Correct - flac will decode to the same bits whether it used a "Quality"
setting of "1" or "8".
