I guess my point would be: why bother with all the rest of the installation and setup of EAC and FLAC if you're going to apply a lossy normalization at the end of the process?
As stated at the beginning of the EAC guide, the guide is all about getting accurate / "perfect sounding" rips. Turning Normalization On makes the rips innaccurate... thus the bold statement. If you are going to turn normalization on, why not use Windows Media Player to rip to Constant Bitrate 96bps Mp3s and then use Mp3gain to normalize... for all we know the final sound quality could be exactly the same. Do you know what algorithm that normalization checkbox invokes?
