I have five optical drives. This is great because I can load up five disks, start them up, and come back later. I don't worry to much about any slow down or the fact that some of the drives are faster etc, since this setup optimizes my time rather than the latency of finishing the whole ripping process.
Another advantage is that it is often the case that one drive will do a better job on errorful disks than the others. This meant I could get one or two high quality drives and more cheap ones. If EAC or accuraterip report errors I just always rerip on a different drive. Often works and is brainless.
