The only player i've had problems with myself, was the factory fit CD player in my VW Golf (it is known for being very picky, rejects numerous copy protected discs as well).
I had some decent media so it wasn't that. In the end using my Plextor Premiums VariRec feature in Nero made sure it played properly. "VariRec provides user adjustment of the recording power above or below a default level. The default level reflects an optimized laser power setting with reduced jitter.
