My CD changer is a McIntosh MCD205. I am running RCA from this player to the receiver which I assume means the Mac is doing the digital to analog conversion. If I were to use optical out of the Mac, the receiver would do the conversion and I don't think the DAC in the receiver is better sounding than the DAC in the CD changer... When I bought the CD changer I tried both ways and preferred the sound when it was plugged into the receiver with RCA cables.
I'll run out and get a couple of optical cables this weekend and do some more testing.. Even if this is the way it will be, I'm still VERY satisfied with the sound of the SB3 as-is, just wanted to see if I could replicate the sound of the McIntosh. Thanks.
