I know that I've been posting on this issue a lot; I've been pretty frustrated that I can't seem to get a definitive answer even from Tech support.
mkozlows implied that the volume leveling worked because he described his experience as satisfactory (I don't think lack of volume leveling would be considered satisfactory). I sent him a message to clarify. Radish's response seemed to mix the issues of on-the-fly volume leveling during transcoding versus adding Replay Gain to FLAC files that were already encoded and saved. His answer did not appear clear to me, and I believe a later poster even commented that we were talking about apples and oranges. At any rate, sorry for the confusing postings, but if you look at the one in the beginners forum as well as this one in the ripping, transcoding forum I basically got no response until I posted another message today; that other thread in the General Discussion forum was not started by me, but seemed to be related so I jumped in. The tech support fellow ended his message with.."sorry I couldn't be of more help...."
