I've just started ripping to FLAC format, using EAC and Flac v1.1.12 (I think) ;)
Odd thing is, though, that even when using option "-best" to get best possible compression, I'm finding that encoding to FLAC using flac.exe is actually faster than encoding to MP3 using LAME. I've got a relatively powerful machine (1GB ram, and running at just over 3GHz) but the comparison between flac and MP3 encoding is on the same machine. The flac files play ok on my SB1 but just wondering if there is anything I can do to test/confirm that the flac really is best compression and really is encoded properly. I've ripped around 20 CD singles so far, and got a long way to go... But will hold off further ripping until I (hopefully) get some advice from you guys :) Cheers! -- gutted http://www.last.fm/user/gutt3d/ Slimserver 6.3.1 +MusicIP Mixer 1.7 +MoodLogic 2.7.1.18 +AlienBBC 1.02a +Slimscrobbler 0.34 Windows 2000 Professional sp4 Intel Celeron 1.4GHz 512MB RAM Squeezebox 1 wireless (Player Firmware Version: 40) Library of approx 6600 MP3s ------------------------------------------------------------------------ gutted's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=147 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=28435 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
