At what point in the process did it do this?

- when ripping, i.e. writing WAV files?

- when compressing, i.e. making FLAC or MP3 files?

If it's the first, that's a very serious issue...it means a core
component of your OS is damaged, i.e. the ability to write to WAV.

If it's when compressing, it's possible the codec has either become
damaged, was never installed properly in the first place or is busy
(not sure about that last one because I've been able to launch multiple
instances of both FLAC and LAME without complaint.)

What OS are you using?
