I used one big folder for a while, and SlimServer works fine with it, but you lose out on two things:
- the ability to guess artist/album/title from the directory structure, should one file not have tags - the ability to add cover art by placing cover.jpg in each album folder Eventually I moved to a folder structure of artist/album.
