could you please telnet to your slimserver box at port 9090 and type the following: artists album_id:163 and post the result? For example, if your slimserver is on ip 10.1.1.1: c:\> telnet 10.1.1.1 9090 artists album_id:163 Then the slimserver will echo your request and supply additional informations. These could help to find the source of the problem.
