Do you see the little gray arrow in the header of the filename column? 
You're sorting on filename.  Click the header of another column to sort
by that column.  The sort should change to that column and the arrow
should move into that header.

I generally don't find the filename and path to be very useful.  The
less useful columns that I do display (tags, date modified) get
shuffled off to the far right.  I almost exclusively use Mp3tag to tag
one album at a time (so you can select all and easily change the album,
artist, genre, or year with the left-hand 'Tag Panel'.  Editing within
the right hand pane is generally only to the track title.  I don't
manually fiddle with the filename at all - it's built using an Action
from the track number and the title.
