A followup to this. I tried it on an album that has the same two artists for
every track, so I didn't need an ALBUMARTIST tag.
I use mp3tag. The album used to be tagged with:
ARTIST=Djivan Gasparayan;Michael Brook
ARTISTSORT=Gasparayan, Djivan;Brook, Michael
I changed this to:
ARTIST=Michael Brook\\Djivan Gasparayan
ARTISTSORT=Brook, Michael\\Gasparayan, Djivan
mp3tag interprets the "\\" as a multiple-tag separator, and actually stores two
artist/artistsort tags. If I look at the list of tags, it lists them as:
ARTIST=Djivan Gasparayan
ARTIST=Michael Brook
ARTISTSORT=Brook, Michael
ARTISTSORT=Gasparayan, Djivan
Interestingly, it has ordered the list of tags, so now the individual artist
and artistsort tags are not matching, but I believe the tags are stored in the
file in the correct order. Foobar displays the two artists and two artist sort
tags correctly.
I revisited the album in slimserver via Browse Music Folder, and only Michael
Brook is displayed for the artist.
I am using slimserver 6.5.1, WinXP Pro.
