the reference encoder has no level 10, only -0 to -8. the only encoder that does is flake (also used in winamp) which I would not recommend using yet: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=45013&st=300&p=443961&#entry443961 there won't be any problems using any of -0 to -8 with the reference encoder and squeezebox/transporter.
