there are reports that WMA lossless is not always lossless:

...and it cannot detect when a file has been corrupted:

it also encodes and decodes more slowly than FLAC.  compression
may be ~1% higher, but for that there are other better codecs.

you actually have to be strongly pro-microsoft and totally hogtied
to WMP before WMA lossless makes sense.  for every other situation
there are better alternatives.
