Funnily enough, I had already added an extended note prior to my reading your comments. Thanks to your report, I've since added a fix to handle long filenames in the command paths (e.g. c:\program files\flac\flac.exe) and also a fix so that the single backslash can be used as the path separator. > 2. flac2mp3.pl cannot be edited and saved on plain text format. If you have no other editor available, you can use Wordpad. I use textpad (http://www.textpad.com) when working Windows (and vim on linux). > I suggest modifying the Windows XP installation instructions to > indicate how edit and save the flac2mp3.pl file in the correct format. > If not for that problem, I would have gotten the program to work the > first time around. I have modified those installation instructions to include your comments. There's still room for improvement but, hey, this is free software! :) Actually, the original instructions were contributed by another satisfied user; feel free send me updated documentation for inclusion on the web site and/or in future releases. > Also: > > Based on my experience yesterday (see my earlier post), I think there > is a problem with putting lame.exe and flac.exe “in the path.” Those > instructions did not work for me. I don't think you understand what "in the path" means. Google turned up the following link [1]. I'm sure there are many other similar docuoments out there. I couldn't possibly maintain parallel flac & mp3 libraries without it - I have ~28,000 tracks to manage!
