I would set them up the way you think about the artist and your music. For example, when I'm pondering what to play,I don't think..."I'm in the mood for some Hendrix, Jimi or some Davis, Miles". So for me, the natural naming works best. I can't think of any advantage to surname first, although others may prefer it.
