I'm in the classical situation of having ripped a large number of CDs with EAC for Squeezebox use, and now wishing to batch-convert to MP3 for my portable player. But I'm having a devil of a time with the utility that so many recommend, flac2mp3. I'd like to succeed with it since it looks like it SHOULD do what I want, plus it's clear that Robin Bowes has put a lot of care and effort into it.
Having followed the instructions on the web site (downloaded and installed flac 1.1.2, lame 3.97, flac2mp3 0.2.9) I had to edit the Perl script (with Wordpad) to change double to single quotes in lines 35, 36, just to get rid of error messages. But my flac and lame locations were still not recognized, and I had to use PATH on the command line to get the script to run. OK - but the big problem is that the program refuses to convert more than one (or sometimes two, rarely three) tracks per album. Usually it's just one track - then it starts the next one and just sits there with no CPU activity until I kill it. The message is "Processing XXX.flac" - nothing more, even with --debug. When the program starts, it correctly counts and sorts ALL of the tracks, and even creates a new output directory with the right name, where the MP3 file for the first track is inserted correctly (and plays ok on my Zune). Can anyone help? I'm running Windows XP Home version on an old Vaio laptop. moshulu -- moshulu ------------------------------------------------------------------------ moshulu's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6811 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32311 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
