This is incorrect.
It is true that -8 takes longer to compress, as the encoder spends more 
time trying to find the perfect match. And for a lot of people, the 
extra time is not justified, as the results are not that big of a deal.

But the decompression time is fixed.

Now that the latest FLAC can recompress all of your files without losing
any tags, I'm thinking of setting up a background task to just compress 
everything again at -8, since I won't have to watch it.
