WAV files don't (except in very unusual circunstances) have any tags associated with them The only way Slimserver can deduce album/artist/trackis by guessing fromthe file name. Unless Genre is in that file path, you won't be able to get it into the slimserver database.
Much better to use FLAC which is smaller,, lossless and which you can tag as much as you like. See the wiki for more info. You ought to be able to convert your WAVs to FLAC without re-ripping, you will however need to use a tagger like mp3tag to sort some of the tags out afterwards.
