I've not tried this but... it ought to be the case that if you edit C:\Program Files\SlimServer\server\Slim\Formats\Ogg.pm (or equivalent on your system), in particular the %tagMapping structure, you should be able to get ALBUM ARTIST to be treated equivalently to ALBUMARTIST.
Of course if you do this you'll need to reapply the patch every time you do an upgrade, and if you're running on windows you'll need to make sure you are running the Perl source version and not the precompiled one, but if anyone feels really strongly about this the option is there...
